El tercero fue parejo en todo momento. Osimani (10 puntos en el parcial) apareció en toda su dimensión para conducir al equipo uruguayo, y tras un doble de Vázquez, los celestes se ponían al frente 50-49. Por su parte, Villanueva era quien mantenía en juego a los dominicanos y, tras un triple de Francisco Garcia, se colocaban arriba 56-54. Un doble de Orlando Sánchez en el final, le dio la mínima ventaja a República Dominicana para que cierre el parcial 61-60.
En el último periodo comenzaron intercambiando canastos hasta que un triple de Ronald Ramón le dio siete de luz a su equipo para ponerse 68-61. Pero con intensidad defensiva, los uruguayos volvieron al partido con Osimani como abanderado. Mientras que por el otro lado, Horford sostenía a su equipo, hasta que un triple de Flores estiró la ventaja 76-69. Con mucho corazón Uruguay se acercó, pero desde la línea de libres, República Dominicana sentenció la historia y se llevó el triunfo por 84 a 76.
Tras el triunfo, Francisco García destacó que “fue un juego complicado, ellos jugaron bien. Se puede decir que le ganamos a un buen equipo”.
